Kinderland Jakarta group from Bonavista centre having group photo with the iconic Singapore Merlion

Kindergarten Two (K2) students, parents and teachers of Kinderland Preschool @ Bonavista, Jakarta embarked on an extraordinary adventure to the Lion City (Singapura) on 22 and 23 February 2024.

This was a remarkable milestone because it is the first overseas learning journey embarked by a Kinderland Jakarta preschool. Kinderland Preschool @ Bonavista might even be the first Indonesian preschool group to travel to Singapore!

Relating to the Term 3 learning theme, “Connecting with the World”, Singapore was an excellent overseas destination for the children to learn about the world. Students got the opportunity to encounter and experience diverse people, cultures and heritage outside of Indonesia.

Day 1: Visit to Science Centre Singapore

First up, the K2 children visited KidSTOP, an interactive children’s science section within the Singapore Science Centre. Accompanied by their parents and teachers, the K2 students learned science concepts through interactive play and exploration of the various hands-on exhibits and activities. The children had tonnes of fun learning about topics such as technology, nature, and the human body.

Day 2: Visit to the Children’s Museum, Merlion Park and Admiralty Park

The next morning, the group visited the highly anticipated Children’s Museum. The K2 children went through an interactive and immersive experience with exhibits that covered a wide range of subjects, from the natural world and outer space to the Singaporean heritage and global cultures. One of the highlights was learning about Singapore’s diverse culture and colourful history through photo and video exhibits and interactive displays at the museum.

Following that the group visited the ‘must-see’ Merlion Park. Spirits were high despite the large crowd and sweltering heat. Everyone accomplished their missions to take photos with the iconic Merlion statue.

After a morning in the city, the group went to Admiralty Park for some outdoor fun and active play. This was a chance for the children to experience playing at one of Singapore’s popular public parks. From swings and slides to climbing structures and rope courses, the children played to their hearts content at Admiralty Park’s popular adventure playground.

An Unforgettable Journey

Time passed quickly while everyone was having fun learning, playing and bonding together. Cherished memories were created, and strong camaraderie forged among the parents and children of the K2 class.

The overseas learning journey left a lasting impact on the young minds. Travelling and learning beyond Indonesia with Kinderland prepared the children to become confident and well-rounded global citizens who can thrive in the future.

As the group bade farewell to Singapore, enriched and enlightened, the Kinderland Preschool @ Bonavista team eagerly awaits the next journey of discovery!
