Indonesia celebrates ‘Hari Merdeka’, or the Indonesian Independence Day, on the 17th of August every year. This year, Indonesia commemorates 77 Years of Independence. Indonesian President, Bapak Joko Widodo witnessed the Flag Ceremony and Military Parade Procession tradition on this special day with the rest of Indonesians. People from all over the country celebrate this occasion with pride through fun community games, songs and dances.

For us in Kinderland, we begin our celebration with the Flag Ceremony and the Recitation of Pancasila by our Kindergarten Two students. Pancasila is the official, foundational philosophical theory of Indonesia. Children then continue with the presentation of songs and dances and end it with the fun community games like ‘kerupuk-eating’, ‘egg and spoon race’, ‘sack race’ and many others.
