Happy Birthday, Indonesia – 81 Years of Independence

On 17 August 1945, Indonesia proclaimed its independence, marking a defining moment in the nation’s history. This year, Kinderland Preschool Muara Karang proudly celebrated 81 years of Indonesia’s independence by   honoring the courage and sacrifices of Indonesia’s national heroes. We alsocelebrated the enduring spirit of unity that brings our  diverse  communities together, while embracing the rich culture and heritage that make Indonesia unique.

We marked this meaningful occasion with a flag-raising ceremony, engaging performances, and traditional Independence Day games. Our children dressed in red and white attire, the colours of the Indonesian flag with red symbolising courage and white symbolising purity. These activities  gave our children  a meaningful, hands-on way to connect with the spirit of the celebration, while expressing their creativity and building confidence on stage.

Traditional Indonesian games also brought parents and children together in shared celebration. Activities such as sack races and cracker-eating contests created opportunities for families to have funtogether, while encouraging participation, perseverance, and community spirit. Working togethertaking turns, following the rulesand encouraging one another gave our children opportunities to experience the importance ofteamwork and sportsmanship in a fun and meaningful way.Most importantly, these activities taught them that winning is not everything.What matters most is participation, enjoyment, supporting one another and spending meaningfultime together.

As we celebrate Indonesia’s 81st Independence Day, let us continue to nurture a love and deep appreciation of  Indonesia’s rich culture, diversity, and heritage in our children.
