Kinderland seeks to develop our children to become Caring individuals – one of the five key characteristics of a Kinderland Child. Therefore, Kinderland preschools purposefully organize programmes and activities to cultivate the spirit of care and giving in all our children.

Amidst the COVID-19 pandemic, Kinderland Jakarta saw the needs of the disadvantaged children, having no access to food, clothes and toys. As such, our preschools took the initiative to partner with Donasi Barang, a charity organization that collects and distribute donations to needy families. The donations benefitted families who experienced natural disasters in Timor Leste and Java Island.

Our Kinderland teachers took a chance during a lesson to share with our children the struggles that disadvantaged children are facing. Our children learned to empathize with the less fortunate children, which triggered the caring spirit within them to help. At the end of the session, our students were left to think if they would part with a beloved toy or clothing to bless an unseen friend.

The activity saw an overwhelming response, with parents and children pouring gifts across all seven Kinderland Jakarta centres. Donasi Barang then collected the donations and sent them to the needy families.

This charity drive is yet another successful event through which Kinderland Jakarta has raised funds and donations for the needy. Some of our past charity drives included a donation drive for the 2018 Sulawesi Tsunami victims and a book donation campaign for underprivileged children in Jakarta.

“Through these efforts, we hope to impart valuable virtues of kindness and empathy to our children.” says Ms Lenny, the Head of School of Kinderland Jakarta.
