Educating our students to defend Mother Earth and protect the environment is of prime importance. We believe in inculcating in our children the awareness of how their everyday actions can affect Mother Earth, and the habits they can adopt to make a positive difference.
At Kinderland Jakarta, children learn how the 3Rs: Reduce, Reuse and Recycle can help to save and protect our only planet. Children bring recyclable materials from home and learn to classify them into three main categories – plastic, metal and paper.
Teachers show the children, who watch excitedly, how to upcycle collected materials into new items such as pencil boxes and piggy bank. Children get to learn through hands-on activities, how to create works of art using recycled materials.
Children also learn ways to conserve our natural resources such as saving electricity and water by remembering to turn them off when not in use.
Recently Kinderland Preschool @ Pondok Indah invited well-known Indonesian environmentalist Pak Sotar from KDM Green Project to give their Kindergarten 2 (K2) children a face-to-face presentation of how to live a greener life. The K2 students actively participated in discussions in classroom while their parents watched and participate in the session via live stream.
Our planet’s environment is facing accelerated deterioration, and we need to act quickly. By creating awareness about the consequences of our actions, we can yet save Mother Earth from further global warming and environmental problems.
