‘Wonderful Indonesia’ was the theme of this year’s CMP concert for Kinderland Pondok Indah. CMP, which stands for Children’s Music Programme, is Kinderland’s signature program designed to help our children develop an early foundation in music and give them opportunities to learn to play the keyboard.
This year’s concert featured a multitude of songs and dances from different provinces in Indonesia, introducing our children to the beauty and variety of Indonesian music. At the beginning of each performance, our preschoolers delighted the audience by confidently introducing the unique qualities of each piece. Following these introductions, the children showcased their musical skills by playing a variety of instruments. Some played the keyboard, while others played tambourines, drums, and sleigh bells in time with the melodies.
The audience was treated to captivating performances of traditional songs by our K1 and K2 students, including:
- “Tokecang” from West Java
- “Cik Cik Periuk” from West Kalimantan
- “Cublak Cublak Suweng” from Central Java
- “Sinanggar Tulo” from North Sumatra
Our children also performed iconic dances such as “Ondel Ondel” from Jakarta, the Janger dance from Bali, and “Yamko Rambe Yamko” from Papua. They moved gracefully to the rhythm and became one with the music.
Music is crucial in the development of language literacy and contributes significantly to children’s overall development. The concert gave our children the experience of the joy of learning, creating, and sharing music as a community. We hope that as our children grow and mature, they will recall their musical journey at Kinderland with fondness; a place that ignited their love and passion for music.
